In a recent election rally, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman asserted that his party has never engaged in extortion or land grabbing, and will not tolerate such practices if elected. He emphasized their commitment to protecting people's lives, property, and dignity, while others focused on personal enrichment. This stance is in stark contrast to the party's previous actions, which have been criticized for their involvement in false cases and profiteering. Shafiqur also highlighted the party's stance against corruption, promising strict action if given the opportunity to govern. He criticized the selective enforcement of laws, arguing that it is unjust to punish minor offenders while allowing major corrupt individuals to remain above the law. The Jamaat ameer alleged that approximately Tk 28 lakh crore was laundered abroad over the last 15 and a half years through banks, insurance companies, and mega projects, emphasizing the need to bring this money back for the country's 18 crore people. He also addressed the repression against Jamaat leaders and activists, stating that the party has been the most persecuted political organization in the country. Despite this, Shafiqur assured that Jamaat would not engage in revenge politics after any change in government, but would provide legal support to the families of martyrs and victims. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of river restoration in the Barishal region, advocating for proper embankments and restoration to change the region's situation within a decade. The rally also introduced the party's nominated candidates for different constituencies in the Barishal region, with central and local party leaders in attendance.
